SomnoDent as an alternative to CPAP

Have you heard of (SomnoDent) and is it an alternative to the C-pap, does it really work? Also, what do you recommend that is an alternative to a C-pap ? Thank you.

Answer

Somnodent (Somnomed) is a good alternative for CPAP therapy, and there are sleep apnea patients with great success stories about this oral appliance.

The dental device can help you only if you have obstructive sleep apnea, and the main cause is the oropharingeal obstruction.

The cost of Somnodent is definitely over $1000, and if you pay also the several follow-up consultations the price can be over $2000. However, this dental device can be a life saver for patients who hate CPAP.

Another good dental device is TAP 3, which is a little less bulky and it allows for eliminating posterior contact. Usually, TAP 3 costs a little less for doctors to fabricate, so it might be cheaper for you.

Words of caution: there are a whole lot of poor quality and mediocre dental devices for sleep apnea. But if you took all of them on the market and averaged out the clinical success rate, it would be lucky to reach 50%!

If they say the dental appliances are FDA approved, it only means that the design has been cleared by FDA because the device looks similar to other successful past designs. However, the manufacturer may or may not have actually held clinical trials to test the device.

There are a lot of money involved and your health also, so I recommend to choose a quality dental device for sleep apnea like Somnodent or Tap 3, placed by a super-skilled dental sleep medicine specialist.

Here it the link to the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (ADSM). You can find information on dental devices for Obstructive Sleep Apnea as well as finding a ADSM dentist.

Another alternative treatment for sleep apnea is Rematee. I remember when I first recommended this product, the person had problems with his dental device, and couldn't tolerate CPAP.

Here is a quote from his testimonial:

I want to give a detailed letter of the last 6 weeks and will so in the next letter-- but, the short version is... when I tell you that the T-shirt has changed my life literally over night!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's right- a $40.00 T-shirt. I think perhaps maybe I was hesitant to write earlier because I thought ( and still do) it was too good to be true. It's working! The T-shirt and a little Yoga have made me feel better then I've felt in the last 6 years. I want to write you in greater detail in the next note.

Remy- simply put, because of your kind attention to my emails and your wonderful website, I can honestly say I got my life back and the icing on the cake is that it didn't come from a $3000.00 CPAP or mouth positioner.

    Ethan

I recommend reading the article about positional sleep apnea therapy to learn more about Rematee and the T-shirt, or bumper belt.

I hope it helps. Don't be afraid to comment back.
