Question: why I have sleep apnea?
by Kevin
(reno, nv)
I'm only 22 and in great shape. I work out daily and just got out of the army. I have been waking up with my muscles constricted and I cant move I’m guessing due to lake of air.
During the day I have heart pains. It feels like someone is grabbing my heart. I guess my question is, is it sleep apnea and if so, are my heart pains because of it and why would I have it if I am a young active person in good shape?
Answer
There are a lot of reasons why you could have sleep apnea. However, from your description, I don't think you have this sleeping disorder.
Kevin, you said that you are "a young active person in good shape"... This definitely is not a description from a person who suffers from
symptoms of sleep apnea.
So, my question is: are you suffering from excessive daytime sleepiness, are you drowsy during the day, or you are a young
active person?
Regarding the reasons for having sleep apnea, please read this article about the
the cause of sleep apnea.
And another thing...If you want to have an idea about your sleep (having snoring and gasping), the information about
home sleep apnea testing might help you.
Did you went to the doctor for a routine checkup of your heart? Maybe there are other causes of your heart pains.
In general, patients with severe sleep apnea have complains about heart problems. I don't think you have a severe sleep apnea disorder.
I hope it helps.
