Night sweats from obstructive sleep apnea?

Are night sweats a side effect of my obstructive sleep apnea?
Answer
Night sweats may or may not be linked to OSA. Many people with sleep apnea experience the night sweat symptom, especially sweating on the head and neck.
Some patients have frequent muscle cramps from excessive perspiration.
Nocturia (when you go often to the toilet during the night) is also another very common side effect from obstructive apnea.
In patients with
sleep apnea, night sweats appear because of the
low blood oxygen levels and
high blood pressure. You might want to check these.
If you have night sweats, then it's possible that your sleep apnea is moderate to
severe, and untreated.
However, night perspiration can be a symptom of many things, including cancer or low testosterone. So while its good to ask opinions here, nothing takes the place of a visit to a good doctor.
Remember that a
CPAP can make this side effects disappear, and I think it's worth using the machine just to avoid waking up drenched and wet in the morning.
I hope it helps. Don't be afraid to comment back.
